Right now the publishing company has some great eGalley Grab reads! To get access to these eBooks, you first have to have Adobe Digital Editions to read the PDF files. But after that it's simple when downloading the books! All the books expire once the book becomes available to the public.

Right now these three YA books are up for grab!

Title: The Shining
Author: Stephen King
Published: January 1977
Genre: Horror, Suspense
Format: Paperback
Online Rating: 4 1/2 Stars
My Rating: 5 Stars
"A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future." - IMDB
The book is different from the movie in a big way, not to throw out spoilers, but the book ends differently than the movie. This is one HUGE reason to read the book and see the movie. The good news is that both have equal amounts of suspense and horror. The book however is more creepy because of the journey that King takes you on that can't be felt in the movie. Overall, the book is awesome!

Movie Title: Firestarter

Director: Mark L. Lester
Writers: Stephen King & Stanley Mann
Language: English
Genre: Suspense, Horror
Theater Release: May 11, 1984
DVD Release: April 1st, 1998
Online Rating: 4 1/2 Stars
My Rating: 3 1/2 Stars
"A couple who participated in a potent medical experiment gain telekinetic ability and then have a child who is pyrokinetic." - IMDB
This is one of those movies that you may enjoy the book more than the film itself. But the film isn't too horrible either. I think it's the way the film started out that kind of sets it up to not give what the book gave to the readers. Overall, this is worth a watch at least once, mostly because Drew Barrymore has some good talent for the age she was in this film. And the other thing is that not too many films these days have good family dynamitcs for a horror film too. Kind of a rarity.
I received and email from FrightCatalog and inside was a link to a posting about the history of the Ouija Board. And it has some very cool historical facts and superstitions about it.

Location: Headless Horseman Hayride
State: New York
Town: Ulster Park (The Hudson Valley)
Established: October 1992
Type: Haunted Attraction/Entertainment
Awards: Rated #1 Haunted Attraction in the United States by Haunt World Magazine, Top 20 Haunted Houses by Fangoria Magazine. Also featured on the Travel Channel for "Halloween's Most Extreme" as the first stop on the tour of the Country's scariest Halloween attractions!
Spook Factor: 8 1/2 out of 10 (not recommended for children under 13)

I live about an hour or so from this place and let me tell you: they have some SERIOUS scary attractions! From a hayride where the actors literally come at from all sides, to a pitch black maze inside the basement of their haunted house, and actors who work year around on creating bigger and better things for the next season. With 200 employees hired every autumn to working the crowds, concessions, even creating some of the most elaborate scenery and props, this is the place to go to in the tri-state area of the north east!

I've been an attendee at least three times in the last 15 years. The first time I went, when I was about 10, I was so freaked out I started to cry on the hayride! The next time I was about 14-15 and I was super freaked out from the people walking around (they put their ALL into making it a rememberable time!). The last time was when I was 18 (back in 2005) and the maze got me a few times from all the neon colors glowing from the black lights to the scary sounds up and down and all around you. The imagery of the characters that year was intense!

This year the theme is beyond what I could ever expect! It's called "Hells Cavern", and guess what the focal idea is?

And now here is a look back on the 2010 season at Headless Horseman Hayride:

A weekly meme by Ginger of GReads!. In the meme I'll talk about music and showcase it here each week. And this week, I'm going to talk about... "Feeling a Moment" by Feeder.

I love this song for so many reason. The rush of energy it makes you feel as the the song starts up to the lyrics that is in the song; simply amazing! I first heard this song years ago, back in 2006 from a show used in the opening scenes, but beyond that I just love this song.

Something about the way it makes you feel when you drive, it gets that movie montage vibe. I sometimes can picture this song for a few books, if ever were turned into a movie, the opening sequence of camera panning in to a teenager driving down the road. It's just one of those amazing songs...
*Been so busy lately that I forgot to start posting on Saturday haha... but here I am and doing a SUPER catch up! So because of this I'll be posting THREE things instead of one! One movie, one book, and one other thing.*

Movie Title: Halloween
Actor(s): Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tony Moran, Nancy Kyes, P.J. Soles
Director: John Carpenter
Writers: John Carpenter & Debra Hill
Language: English
Genre: Horror, Slashing
Theater Release: October 25, 1978
DVD Release: August 14, 2007
Online Ratings: 4 1/2 Stars
My Rating: 5/5 Stars
"A psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood escapes on a mindless rampage while his doctor chases him through the streets." - IMDB
The story is about Michael Myers and his need to murder unsuspecting teens on Halloween night. I love the first two 'Halloween' movies of this series. The rest, especially the 3rd film, kind of loose the magic touch and story arch that you find from Carpenters films. This is one of my top 5 must watch films for every Halloween. I even remember my mother telling me a story about when she first saw this film. It was on a darn during college, opening week. Then at nights when going to her car, she said that she looked everywhere because that film gave her nightmares in thinking she was being followed. Till this day she won't watch this movie or any horror movie for that matter. One of the coolest parts I think of this film is the simple story telling and how it invokes certain fears, very Hitchcock inspired feeling.

Title: The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe
Author: Edgar Allan Poe
Publisher: Vintage Books
Publication Date: September 12, 1975
Genre: Poetry
Format: Paperback
Online Rating: 4 1/2 Stars
My Rating: 4/5 Stars
"All of the tales by the master of the detective and the macabre story. 53 of his best-known poems plus essays and criticisms." - Goodreads
This was one of those books that I simple adored as a child. Poe had a way of captivating you and scaring you at the exact same time. Even though his life was quit "interesting", he still is a good writer none the less. I've also have had the chance during high school to visit West Point Military Academy (about 40 mins from my home) and it's a stunning place. You also get a chance to see why he ended up going there just from the scenery when you get to the entrance gate. and speaking of West Point....

Location: West Point Military Academy (USMA)
State: New York
Town: West Point
Established: March 16, 1802
Spook Factor: 5 out of 10

This is not only one of the oldest military academies in the country, it's also one of the famous military academies around the world. The amount of artifacts from previous wars to buildings that are older than most theme parks. A reason I choose this place is because it's filled with the "ghost" vibe, even during the day! After walking around the place more then once in the last 10 years, I can say the grave yard on campus is certainly the most haunted. Mostly because you'll find graves of soldiers from over a hundred years ago to soldiers that have died in battle of the latest war in Iraq/Afghanistan. The churches are also very "ghostly" feeling too. The one used for catholic services and weddings is remarkable beautiful from the stain glass windows that run up to 50ft high to the beautifully crafted wooden benches. They have ropes that cut off the public from going too far into the church for a few security reasons, but because it's so old that certain things can not be touched! The most interesting part of this place is the old war piece spread out across the campus. They have old battle cannons from the civil war ranging to tanks that came from one of the world wars. This is just one of MANY places to visit in NY State, but one of the more interesting places for a tour and some really great history and maybe someone giving you that "just walked over your grave" feeling.

They say you can't get to Heaven without passing through the Eternal Rest Funeral Home. And no one gets into Eternal Rest without passing muster with Elvis--the basset hound who's convinced he's the reincarnation of the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Brewing up a big ol' pitcher of Mississippi mystery, Peggy Webb's delightful new series is as intoxicating as the Delta breeze.

Normally, Callie Valentine Jones spends her days fixing up the hairdos of the dead, but when the corpse of local, prominent physician Dr. Leonard Laton goes missing, it's bad for business. So Callie and her cousin Lovie (Eternal Rest's resident wake caterer) have no choice but to go in hot pursuit of the recently embalmed, last seen bound for Vegas by way of downtown Tupelo.

In Vegas, Callie and Lovie hit the jackpot when they find the dearly departed inside a freezer owned by his showgirl mistress, Bubble Malone. But their luck runs out when Bubble decides to join her man in the afterlife. With the poisonous Laton family tree providing plenty of rotten suspects, Callie, along with some help from her basset hound, Elvis, is determined to crack this case--and have a killer singing "Jailhouse Rock" in time for her next haircutting appointment. . .

Brigit Malone is on a mission-a dangerous, larcenous quest that leads the mysterious lovely into Adam Reid's home...and heart. For sparks fly when her warm ebony gaze meets his sapphire stare--and a passionate enchantment binds them with invisible chains.
