Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

Catching Fire begins with a soft start. It didn't really give that punch and run with it feeling like the Hunger Games had which is okay because sometimes to get to the interesting part of a story you have first to trek through the mud.

(I would reveal some of the big moments, but for those that haven't read the sequel, I can't say much from here on out. I don't like spoiling good moments from books, especially the important ones.)

It was interesting to see such a new dynamic placed out for Katniss with President Snow. That was the dark horse in the story. You could feel it everywhere, creeping around ever corner. His words had weight and it was keeping Katniss flat on her back in fear.

When Peeta and Katniss reached the capitol, the idea of seeing Mockingjays everywhere being incorporated into the fashion of the citizens really took hold of a bigger message. It was quietly foreshadowing the last few chapters of the book. This is important, so if you aren't read it yet, keep your eyes out for this throughout the novel.

Now for what happens in the 75th Hunger Games, I can say the arena in this book is quite interesting. The complex layout and ingenuity of it was genius on Collins part. I love the science aspect behind the construction the most. Definitely one of the cooler parts of the book and one I'm dying to see constructed for the movie! I can't say what it is and such and hoping they don't reveal anything in teasers or trailers for the movie later this year, but it's one to keep people on the edge of their seat.

It was fun to read more humor being laid out in the book. I actually laughed out loud for some of it, where as with the Hunger Games, not so much. I can tell Collins was trying to balance out and diffuse any tension for the readers. I won't lie, it was dark and grim at certain parts of the book. It made the first book look like a walk in the park. All I have is one word: destruction. It was everywhere and every district was dealing with it

Oh and I love how BOLD Peeta was in this novel. So good and eloquent too. He most certainly was sharp at pulling the rug out from everyone. Laying down some serious ground work for more & weaving a web of Katniss and Peeta's story of "love"… or so as they need to keep doing to prove to every district and the capitol.

I do have to say, the way Katniss keeps describing her kisses with Peeta, it felt like she was falling in love with him or at least falling into lust from her intense physical feeling of burning passion she would get. At one point she didn't want to stop and couldn't get enough, kind of like two teenagers in love with the hand all over themselves groping.

As for Gale and Katniss, it became increasingly clear of how confused Katniss was starting to feel for him and Peeta. She is still confused by the end of the book, so her decision will be finally made in Mockingjay. I'm very curious to see how that plays out.

Overall, I've enjoyed the book. It is something worth reading if 1) you may not have enjoyed the first book or 2) need a new series to pick up and read. I'd highly recommend the first two books to read. And I normally don't endorse such a things! © 2012

Now not only has someone found the scenes and uploaded them online, but they are not easy to find within the CapitolTour website for some reason. Below are the scenes from the Roof and the Reaping. Enjoy!
COMMANDER IN STYLE

President of Panem. Figurehead of the Capitol. Icon of style? You bet your Brioni britches!

With his ever-present white clergy shirt and dark sanguine button-up vest, President Coriolanus Snow is making a strong case for the ancient adage “less is more” — a concept about as foreign to Capitol fashionistas as D4’s bread. Speaking of D4, the leader of Panem’s Execu-chic branch always completes his classy ensemble with an impeccably tailored equally sanguine sharkskin jacket. It’s one-of-a-kind and was given to him by D4’s mayor Hunter Phillips on his very first Presidential Tour of Panem over 25 years ago. I’m sure we’d all agree: If you absolutely have to visit the Districts, a gorgeous sui generis sharkskin sport coat will serve just fine as a goodie bag.

But let’s move past the staples of menswear and into what we all need to know: What is up with that white rose that practically lives on our President’s lapel? And how does it smell so perfectly perfumed all the time? That singular rose is the most talked about accessory in Panem fashion history and has been the subject of rampant speculation for decades. Was it really engineered by horticultural geneticists in D3 to have a blissfully unfading scent? Has he worn the same one for his entire reign? Or does he have a never-ending supply? Is it actually a floral muttation from the First Quarter Quell? So much mystery! And we promise we have our best CC snoops on the case.

Less of a mystery is President Snow’s majestic coiffure. When it comes to flowing angelic locks, few have our ruler overruled. As soft and white as his surname, President Snow’s luxurious mane is the envy of older male citizens throughout the Capitol and surely the whole country. His stylists insist they simply use an all-natural organic olive oil and white vinegar solution to preserve the President’s remarkable volume and shine. And to keep his similarly alabaster beard in order, President Snow is rumored to prefer Cutting Edge’s Beard and Mustache Trimmer… the exact same shaver of choice for Cutting Edge spokesman and Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane. We can’t help but wonder if the two gents ever sit down and talk facial hair.

As we enter into the 74th year of everyone’s favorite annual affair, it’s Swarovski crystal clear: the future of fashion and the future of our nation was never in better looking hands. - Capitol Couture

If you haven't seen either of these yet, then you will be excited if you are a HUGE fan of the books. Why do I say this? Because there is new footage from the movie! A clip where Cinna talks to Katniss about what he wants to do for the tribute parade. The new tv promo has clips from the tribute parade, scenes from Katniss looking out her window the first time she is at the capitol, more dialogue between Cinna and Katniss before she goes into the Games, and so much more! With all this footage that has been released lately (check my last 'Hunger Games' post), it's shaping up to be very much a perfect book adaptation! Also I've posted below some exclusive newly leaked picture from the movie! Enjoy fans and may the odds be in your favor.

With the high anticipation of the movie in just 23 days (yes 23!), many are making fan-made dedication videos from the movie trailers, tv spots, etc... that are on the web. Here are a few that I've found to be entertaining, really cool, and most of all shows how much these video creators love these books!

This is by far the only tutorial that I've seen that is exceptionally amazing! This woman has talent and truly captured what the book and movie is about when it comes to the character. I've enjoyed it and hope you do too!

These are the official "The Hunger Games" television spots used to help promote the movie. This is getting me more excited each day we grow closer to the premiere! Plus the added bonus of seeing more footage doesn't hurt too. Also last but not least here is one of the biggest sneak peaks for the movie I can give to the fans...
It's a movie still of the main headquarters of the control room for the Hunger Games! And that big disc in the middle? That would be the arena that the tributes are forced into for the games!

DISTRICT TWELVE’S OTHER VOLUNTEER?

By now, avid Hunger Games fans are well aware that Katniss Everdeen is District 12’s first volunteer Tribute in decades - but she won’t be the only volunteer on Team 12 at the 74th Hunger Games! Meet Cinna, the hotly-tipped young stylist who — get this — actually requested to work with the D12 Tributes. We have to say, this brave if not odd entreaty has been paying off — everyone from Mayor Luna to Seneca Crane has been clamoring to see what Cinna’s got in store for 12!

But is it really that surprising? After all, Cinna is no rookie Tribute when it comes to the arena of Haute Couture. After a number of years studying under revered Capitol designer and fashion fixture Judianna Makovsky, he was able to open his own downtown atelier. From there, he has been designing everything from gowns and headpieces to club-collar shirts and ultra-sleek anoraks for our city’s elite under an eponymous label for almost a decade. He is known to go deep conceptually - constantly breaking new ground with innovative textiles, materials and even chemical compounds - applying them to everything from gowns and headpieces to club-collar shirts and ultra-sleek anoraks. His designs and ensembles have been described by many as elaborate, unique to their wearer and awash with emotion.

For such a calm and collected guy, we find the effusiveness of Cinna’s design captivating. He told us, “For as long as I can remember, I have always channeled my emotions into my work.” With a wink, he quietly added, “I think it’s safest that way.”

Speaking of safe, if you haven’t been glued to your TV set like a normal person this time of year, Cinna can almost always be seen in the simplest of all-black ensembles accented exclusively by his signature Liquid Skyliner eyeliner (which, we might add, totally brings out the adorable gold flecks in his eyes). His minimalism makes even President Snow’s execu-chic style seem outrageous. When asked about his personal, visibly understated wardrobe and disregard for Capitol fads, Cinna said, “I put so much passion and creativity into my work that sometimes there’s not much leftover for myself.”

And of course we couldn’t sit down with Cinna without asking him the questions on every Hunger Games fan’s mind: What does he have in store for the D12’s Tributes at the Opening Ceremonies? True to form, a sly smile crept coyly across his face as he said, “Let’s just say, when you play with fire, you don’t always get burned.”

Sounds like Katniss and Peeta are going to be looking hot at the Opening Ceremonies. What do you think, Citizens? - Capitol Couture
